DIVA’S LEADING LADIES DOMINATE THE 2011 EMMY NOMINATIONS

Posted by DIVA Universal

The leading ladies on DIVA Universal have proven their star power by racking up an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

The September premiering period drama Downton Abbey earned 11 nominations, more than any other DIVA program, with veteran actress Maggie Smith (Harry Potter) vying for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Mini Series or Movie’ award.

The Good Wife also bagged nine sought-after nominations including ‘Outstanding Drama Series’. Leading The Good Wife pack is Julianna Marguilies with an ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series’ nomination, while Alan Cumming, Josh Charles, Christine Baranski and 2010 Emmy winning actress Archie Panjabi have attained nominations for their supporting roles.

This would have come as a surprise to Panjabi who was not expecting to be nominated again after her 2010 shock win.

“I am still celebrating the first year so I am trying not to think of the second. That would just be greedy. I have already convinced myself that I’m not going to be nominated”, said the actress during a recent trip to South East Asia with DIVA Universal.

Mariska Hargitay and Laura Linney have both earned nods for their performances as strong female leads in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Big C respectively, and Betty White for the hit comedy series Hot In Cleveland.
